Question 2
I'm looking on page 26 of the solicitation and I found how the ropes are to be packaged but based on experience and what we've provided before when we supplied a fiberboard box for the Marine Corps, we have always placed the ropes in what the government refers to a "BX" unit. We basically put a specified quantity into another box if you will and that's the BX. Each rope is individually boxed but then they get grouped together. The BX is a 3 piece construction; a bottom, top and a sleeve for the sides. Is that how you want it or do you want the individual boxes stacked on a pallet?
Government Response
Each rope is to be packed in its own individual corrugated container (to meet Level B of MIL-STD-2073) and those individual containers are to be marked IAW MIL-STD-129. Contractor can consolidate and palletize as proposed.
Question 3
The spec lists several color options for this rope--is there a specific color code required for this contract?
Government Response
See MIL-F-44422, paras. 3.3.1, 3.3.2 & 3.3.3 as the approximate range of colors required and their associated color chips.
Question 4
Please confirmed that a staple wrap yarn is required. I’ve heard there may have been some dissatisfaction with some of the fast ropes provided in the past.
Government Response
Yes, this type of yarn is required and to date there have been no documentation of any field issues related to the staple yarn. Any submissions that cannot provide a staple wrapped yarn are encouraged to document the deviation from the spec when applying for the consideration.
