Question Answer
What is the intended detail for the build‐out or infill at the existing windows on the west wall, extending back to the south (currently covered by the gun display).
Remove all construction still in the former window openings to the CMU at the back of the opening. Once all cleaned out, everything in the masonry and stone opening is to be painted the same color as the rest of the wall.
Specify number of coats of paint required at each substrate: walls, ceilings, columns, new sheetrock walls, etc.
The number of coats is indicated in the specifications.
Is any painting required at the existing windows, sills, frames? Any at the existing painted entry doors?
Existing doors, door frames, window frames and sill are to remain upainted.
Can you tell us what we are to do with the wall display? The dimensions are about 10’ x 12’. After site visit, I assume removal of the plywood, supporting wood grid, patching of the plaster and paint. Please clarify.
Remove the wood, patch the plaster, and paint.
At the NE corner (gift shop area) there is conduit and outlets the run in front of the wood base(shown to be removed). About 28’ at the East wall and about 22’ at the North wall. I assume its gets demolished but it doesn’t show up on the demo drawings. Please clarify.
The existing conduits and outlets are to remain. Existing wood wall base can remain, but the quarter round trim will have to be replaced with the floor replacement. The wood base will have to be painted.
Note number 8 on sheet A‐101 states to demolition window openings. I can’t find in the drawings how we are to fill them back in to finish off? Also, can you tell us how many openings?
There are 12 window opening behind the gun wall being removed. There is an additional 4 more former window openings visible from inside the Museum Exhibit Hall. 1 of the 4 openings has been discovered to contain piping that needs to be concealed. The revised drawings show gypsum board on 6" metal studs being added to conceal these pipes. That leave 15 openings that may have construction in them that will need to be removed. There are 5 windows similar to what is shown in photo 8. Once demolished paint the back of the CMU and all the exposed stone the same color as the wall.
