About this file

This document is a Site Concrete Specifications sheet that provides detailed technical requirements for concrete construction. The specifications mandate that all site concrete must have a 4,000 PSI compressive strength at 28 days, with a maximum slump of 3 inches and 6% (+/- 1%) air entrainment, conforming to ASTM C94. Key requirements include using Portland cement (ASTM C150, Type I), a mineral aggregate base (ASTM C33), and clean water free from deleterious materials. Special conditions address concrete placement, including restrictions on temperature (not below 40 degrees F) and requirements for cold and hot weather admixtures. Additional specifications cover sidewalk sealing with Tnemec 668 Deck A Pell 40 Sealer and the use of Type III microfiber reinforced concrete with a dosing rate of 2.5 lbs/cy when specified. The document emphasizes that any concrete damaged prior to project acceptance must be replaced at no cost to the government.

SITE CONCRETE SPECIFICATIONS

NOT TO SCALE

1. THESE SPECIFICATIONS APPLY TO CONCRETE APPEARING ON THE CIVIL

DRAWINGS. ALL OTHER CONCRETE SHALL CONFORM TO THE

SPECIFICATIONS ON THE STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS.

2. ALL SITE CONCRETE SHALL BE 4,000 PSI COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH AT 28

DAYS WITH MAXIMUM SLUMP OF 3 INCHES AND 6% (+/- 1%) AIR

ENTRAINMENT; ASTM C94.

3. USE ACCELERATING ADMIXTURES IN COLD WEATHER ONLY WHEN

ACCEPTABLE TO THE COR. USE OF ADMIXTURES SHALL NOT RELAX COLD

WEATHER PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS. DO NOT USE CALCIUM CHLORIDE.

4. USE SET-RETARDING ADMIXTURES DURING HOT WEATHER ONLY WHEN

ACCEPTABLE TO THE COR.

5. DO NOT PLACE CONCRETE WHEN BASE SURFACE TEMPERATURE IS LESS

THAN 40 DEGREES F OR SURFACE IS WET OR FROZEN.

6. PORTLAND CEMENT: ASTM C150; NORMAL - TYPE I.

7. MINERAL AGGREGATE BASE: ASTM C33.

8. WATER: CLEAN AND FREE FROM INJURIOUS AMOUNTS OF OIL, ALKALI,

ORGANIC MATTER, OR OTHER DELETERIOUS MATERIAL.

9. AIR ENTRAINMENT: ASTM C260 OR AASHTO M-154. AIR ENTRAINING

ADMIXTURES SHALL BE ADDED TO THE MIXER IN THE AMOUNT NECESSARY

TO PRODUCE THE SPECIFIED AIR CONTENT.

10. CONCRETE SIDEWALK SHALL HAVE TNEMEC 668 DECK A PELL 40 SEALER

APPLIED AS A FLOOD COAT AT 150 SQUARE FEET PER GALLON. SEALER

SHALL BE APPLIED PER MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS.

11. ANY CONCRETE DAMAGED PRIOR TO FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE PROJECT

SHALL BE REPLACED AT NO EXPENSE TO THE GOVERNMENT.

12. WHERE FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE IS SPECIFIED - USE TYPE III

MICROFIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE WITH DOSING RATE OF 2.5LBS/CY.
