Responses to Questions (Q&A), 10 May 2022, RFQ: W50S91-22-Q-0013
Q1 – Due to the extent of the requested sheet-metal duct(s) and insulation replacement work, we respectfully request another site visit prior to bid due date to have a sheet-metal and insulator subcontractor review the work. Is this acceptable?
A1 – Yes
Q2 - Per section 3.3.9 page 5 (Statement of Work) Seal Class A – is defined as Static Pressure of
4.0 inches or more. (SMACNA HVAC Duct Construction Standards) All traverse joints, longitudinal seams and duct wall penetrations. What are the static pressures of the existing unit(s)? The small make-up air unit model number lists the unit as a standard blower assembly (5 H.P.) not listed as a (high CFM) drive. The large RTU-1 unit model number lists the unit as equipped with a 525 RPM 10 H.P. fan motor that is not listed as a (High CFM) drive.
A2 – The Seal Class A requirement has been removed from the SOW. The government has included HVAC drawings in Attachment III as supplemental information and has changed the SOW accordingly. See revised SOW, see paragraph 3.3.9, 3.3.9.1 and 3.3.9.2.
Q3 - Fabricate outdoor air intake ducts and plenums with watertight soldered or brazed joints and seams. Are there any other duct sealing practices acceptable that meet Seal Class A requirements other than soldered or brazed joints?
A3 – This requirement has been removed from the SOW. The government has included HVAC drawings in Attachment III as supplemental information and has changed the SOW accordingly.
See revised SOW, see paragraph 3.3.9.
Q4 - Do we need permit for our Company furnished Crane at your facility? Will Air Traffic Control Tower need to be notified?
A4 – The Government COR will submit the FAA request and will provide you the contact information to notify the tower when the crane is in operation and when the crane work is done.
The contractor will need to supply the government information such as the type of crane, boom height, requested dates and times of crane operation, and crane position.
Q5 - Are we responsible for subcontracting Siemens to verify programming of the DDC connection points upon completion of work or is this the responsibility of ARW?
A5 – It is the contractor’s responsibility to determine the best method to connect and verify that the new HVAC systems works with the current Siemens DDC system. Subcontracting Siemens is not a requirement of this SOW nor the responsibility of the government.
