About this file

This draft Statement of Work (SOW) details requirements for constructing a 24' x 36' shelter at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station for the 107th Attack Wing of the New York Air National Guard. The shelter specifications include a gable-style roof with 4/12 pitch, structural steel posts and beams with minimum 3/16" wall thickness, powder-coated brown frame, and 2x6 or larger tongue and groove fur decking stained colonial maple. Two foundation options are presented: a preferred pier-style foundation with a 4-foot concrete sidewalk encircling the existing pad, or an alternative monolithic slab that would replace the existing 20x30 concrete pad with a 26' x 38' foundation. The structure must be NY State engineered, stamped, and compliant with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) standards, with the contractor responsible for initiating and coordinating the dig permit.

NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK

SECTION 01010

CONDENSED SUMMARY OF WORK

Provide all labor, materials, plant, equipment and supervision necessary to install a 24’ x 36’ (24 x 36 foot) shelter. Location of install is centered over an existing 20x30 concrete pad at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. Existing concrete pad is assumed inadequate for use as structural support.

Shelter posts and beams will be minimum 3/16” wall structural steel square or rectangular tubing. I beam, channel and angle are not allowed for use on this project to prevent bird and insect nesting. Fasteners will be hot-dip galvanized. Structural steel will be powder coated brown. All posts will be on the perimeter of the building and none centered on the high point of the roof.

Roof will be gable style with a 4/12 pitch or approved equivalent. Roof decking will be 2x6 or larger tongue and groove fur. Decking is exposed on the underside stained approximately colonial maple or other approved. Decking wood grade will be select grade at a minimum.

Roofing will be metal and of a standing seam style or approved equivalent in brown matching the frame. Gutters are required and all other flashing and sheet goods will have a finish consistent in appearance with overall structure.

Foundation will be installed per design requirements; pier style foundation is preferred.

Cutting into the existing pad may be required to gain clearance for the foundation.

Concrete sidewalk 4’ (4 foot) wide will be installed encircling the existing pad to act as an extension of the existing pad to meet the perimeter of the shelter.

Alternative foundation arrangement (if approved) is monolithic slab. Remove and replace existing concrete pad with one that would be an adequate foundation 26’ x 38’ (26 x 38 foot). This alternative foundation eliminates the sidewalk requirement. Note method recommended in proposal. No additional finishing site work or adjustment to soil will be required past what was necessary for construction. All damage to site will be restored, for example tire ruts. All spoils to be stockpiled on site.

All design requirements will be consistent with installation location. Design of the structure must be NY State engineered stamped and comply with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) standards. Dig permit will be initiated and coordinated by contractor.
