Questions and Answers – Bldg. 100 Gutter Project:

As of 8/21/2024

1. Question: Scope Clarification: Does the project involve replacing the entire gutter system, including the liners, or only the liners?

Answer: The project includes relining of the gutters and replacement of the downspout to the closest elbow inside of the hangar.

2. Question: GAF TOPCOAT® Suitability: Has a GAF representative confirmed the appropriateness of the "GAF TOPCOAT®" system for this project?

Answer: Acrylic coatings cannot be applied over old coatings. Installing a coating on a failed gutter system may not be efficient, and a complete replacement might be more appropriate. Per section 3.A.1 the contractor shall remove existing liners and prep for replacement.

3. Question: Dimensions and Components: Does the replacement include the entire drainage system, including pipes and elbows?

Answer: Please see picture to see the extent of the required work on the downspouts inside of the hangar.

4. Question: Can you confirm the specified dimensions (12"x18"x12") refer to the size of the gutters, and if the total length is approximately 630 linear feet?

Answer: Measurements are approximate, shall be verified in the field by the contractor.

5. Question: What is the weight rating for the inside platform to work on the downspout gutters? Would we be able to use a motorized scissor lift on the existing roof to reach the gutters (using ¾” plywood to protect the roof)?

Answer: We do not have any documentation providing a load rating for the mezzanine. I cannot advise use of a scissor lift to be placed on the mezzanine. Previous proposals included the use of a ladder with fall protection measures in place.

6. Question: Can there be an extension for the project completion time (originally allowed 21 days)?

Answer: I recommend extending the period of performance to 45 days.

7. Question: Can a scissor lift be used on the mezzanine?

Answer: The mezzanine load rating cannot be confirmed. Contractor shall acknowledge use of heavy lifts are not permitted to be placed on the mezzanine. Also contractor shall confirm OSHA standards will be followed, specifically in regards to fall protection requirements. Fall protection shall be used for the duration of the contract. Contractor is responsible for all means and methods to implement fall protection measures.
