About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) response document for solicitation W50S8C26QA009 regarding the procurement of a 152 CEF SCBA Air Compressor system. The RFI provides answers to ten questions received as of April 22, 2026, clarifying key site and equipment requirements for prospective vendors.
The government has confirmed that the new compressor will operate on existing 208 volts, 3-phase hard-wired electrical service with reusable infrastructure at the site. The compressor and fill station will be located in separate rooms indoors, with 4 existing storage tanks and a filter/oil water separator already in place; however, a desiccant dryer will need to be supplied. The government has specified a 6,000 psi compressor as sufficient for requirements and confirmed this purchase is subject to the Buy American Act. The breathing air compressor system must be built in the USA with a two-year warranty and include salient characteristics such as automatic or manual modes, high-temperature shutdown, emergency stop, remote intake hook-up, pressuretized oil lubrication, and automatic "STOP" discharge on carbon monoxide or moisture detection. The fill station must be constructed in accordance with OSHA and NFPA standards, capable of filling one to two SCBA cylinders with 4500 psi capacity, include heavy-duty welded steel construction, manual and check valves, automatic cascade filling, and adjustable fill pressure regulators with gauges for each cylinder, along with a smart fill fully automatic cascade filling system.
