About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for SAM.gov Request for Quote (RFQ) W50S88-25-Q-0118 for Acoustic Wall Panels. The Q&A addresses four key topics related to the procurement: side wall fixings, construction documents, room dimensions/acoustic details, and mounting methods. The government requires acoustic wall panels with specific technical requirements, including magnetic backing and compatible wall-side magnetic fixings that enable easy panel removal and reattachment without additional mounting hardware or wall penetrations. The panels must reduce room reverberation time (RT60) from approximately 2.0 seconds to 0.08 seconds or better, with dimensions, quantity, thickness, and NRC rating already selected to meet this acoustic performance target.

Acoustic Wall Panels
Questions and Answers
1. Side Wall Fixings Question: Could you please explain a bit more about the type of side wall fixings you're looking for?
Answer: Panels must include magnetic backing and compatible wall-side magnetic fixings, such as ferrous strips or plates, that allow for magnetic installation onto standard drywall or similar surfaces. The system should enable easy panel removal and reattachment by our personnel. No additional mounting hardware or wall penetrations are required.
2. Construction Documents
Question: Do you have any construction documents, such as interior wall elevations, that we can reference for a more accurate takeoff?
Answer: No construction drawings or elevations are available. The panels will be installed on existing flat wall surfaces, and contractor installation is not required.
3. Room Dimensions / Acoustic Details
Question: Can you share room dimensions or additional acoustic performance info to confirm that the proposed solution meets the required RT60 time?
Answer: The spec already outlines the required RT60 reduction, from approximately 2.0 seconds to 0.08 seconds or better. The dimensions, quantity, thickness, and NRC rating were selected to meet this target. No additional acoustic details or room measurements will be provided.
4. Mounting Method
Question: Is magnetic backing strictly required, or would Z cleats be acceptable as a removable option?
Answer: Magnetic backing is required as stated in the spec. Alternative mounting systems such as Z cleats do not meet the stated need for tool-free, removable panel access by Government personnel.
