About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) document providing clarifications and responses to bidder questions regarding the B44 Breakroom Remodel solicitation (W50S7X-26-Q-0008) at McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas.

The project involves removal of old cabinetry and installation of new cabinets, countertops, microwaves, backsplash, under-the-counter refrigerator, sink, faucet, countertop water dispenser, and associated plumbing in the breakroom (Rooms 106 and 103) of Building 44. Key specifications include: countertop water/ice dispenser with single-stage filtration; microwaves with minimum 1200W power and 2.2 cubic foot internal capacity; electrical work required for microwave cabinet slots and potentially for undercounter refrigerator/ice maker relocation; and a 60-day delivery period from award date (negotiable to 90 days if needed). The anticipated start date is September 30th at the latest. The government clarified that no upright refrigerators were requested, no specific manufacturer models are required (items must meet specified dimensions), site visits are encouraged, subcontractor personnel must meet the same base access requirements as prime contractors, all ceiling and drywall repairs from previous water damage have been completed, potential mold remediation may be needed, electrical modifications will be performed by the contractor, new tile work may be required depending on flooring configuration, the project is tax-exempt, and work is limited to Room 106 with no cabinet removal required in Room 103 unless necessary to access Room 106 work. An organized site visit was scheduled for August 17, 2026, at 1300 CST at Building 65, Suite 153, 52955 Jayhawk Drive, McConnell AFB, Kansas.

2Any additional specifications for the microwaves? Power level (min/max wattage)? Air fryer function ? Size capacity? At least 1200W power, 2,2 cu ft internal capacity. don’t care about the air fryer function. And fit in the cabinet slots for them.

4Will additional electrical and/or lighting be necessary for functionality ?Electrical will be needed for the microwave slots, May be needed (probably just moving) based on final plan for the Undercounter fridge and ice maker.

16Is any new flooring, painting or ceiling work required? If so, can a basis of the requirement be provided?Depending on if the flooring goes under the cabinets or not, which I do not know for sure, some tile may need cut and removed or new tile added to keep the entire counter at the same height. 21The Statement of Work (SW-3) states that removal of old cabinetry is required in both Room 103 and Room 106. However, the drawings provided in the solicitation package (title block: "B44 RM106 — Breakroom Renovation Proposal") show a complete cabinet, countertop, and appliance layout for Room 106 only — lower cabinets, upper cabinets, and West/South/East wall elevations. No drawings, dimensions, or layout are provided for Room 103.Room 106 and 103 open to the same breakroom area. Room 106 is where the work is being completed.

Room 103 is the northern half of the break room. There should be no work needed in that half unless you need to access something to accomplish the 106 half, or if you need the whole floor There should be no cabinets or lockers that get removed from room 103. Just the cabinets and counters in 106
