About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a solicitation for the project "JKSE 172216, Install Crane, Bldg 80" issued by the Montana Air National Guard. The solicitation seeks a firm-fixed price construction contract to install an air conditioning system, structural supports for a bridge crane and fall arrest system, additional heating, repair of a hangar floor, installation of flexible pavement and a domestic water line at Building 80 in Great Falls, Montana. The responses provide clarification that rebar installation differs between two details, the geotechnical report and boring logs cannot be provided, manufacturers for fall protection equipment do not need to be specified, and several questions remain pending further review.

Solicitation W50S7L20B0001 - JKSE 172216, Install Crane, Bldg 80

Question and Answers as of 13 August 2020

1. Question: On Details 1/S5.0 and 3/S5.0. As I understand it, I can use #4’s @ 12” O. C. embedded 6” into the existing slab w/epoxy in all areas .Except where NOTE A on Sheet S2.0 which is identified as

40’-0”. On Detail 3/S5.0 it does say see Note, but using #4’s @ 12” O.C. embedded into existing slab w/epoxy should apply as detail 1/S5.0. I hope I exampled this correctly. In other words except NOTE

A (40’-0”) Sheet S2.0. I can use #4’s @ 12” O. C. embedded 6” into existing slab w/epoxy?

Answer: The only place where "Note A" of 1/S5.0 applies is the 40' length near Grid D.5/16. Detail

3/S5.0 uses its own independent note regarding slab rebar (not "Note A" from 1/S5.0). Therefore, it is unacceptable to embed with epoxy 6" at detail 3/S5.0. See attached blue comment.

2. Question: Detail 3/S5.0 where it indicates Existing Door Slab Rails & Slab. Note “Existing Dowels to

Grease one side of Dowel”. Is it allowed to cut the existing dowel off and use #4’s @ 12” O.C.

embedded 6” into existing slab w/epoxy.

Answer: The requested change is unacceptable.

3. Question: I would appreciate receiving the Geotechnical Report for MANG Install Crane B80.

Answer: See attachment “B25_80 Geotech Report.pdf”

4. Question: Under SECTION 11 81 29.1 FACILITY FALL PROTECTION AND SECTION 11 81 29.2 ROOF

PROECTION SAFETY SYSYEMS. Under Product Data Manufacture it did not have a list of specific manufactures. Do you have preference for a manufacture.

Answer: No, as long as it meets specifications. Manufacturer will be approved through the submittal process after award.

5. Question: Is the fire hydrant lead in the below clouded area a part of this projects scope? I would recommend doing it at the same time as the rest of this waterline work.

Answer: Yes, that hydrant is in the scope, per print.

6. Question: If the hydrant lead is a part of scope. I believe it will have the same adjustment required as the other waterlines have required when crossing that storm drain.

Answer: 2. Yes, it will have the same adjustment when crossing the storm drain.

7. Question: I received the Geotechnical Report but there was not log borings included. May I receive the Nine Borings as referenced in the report?

Answer: MTANG does not have that information.

8. Question: I would like to request a planholders or bidders list, and to confirm that the bid date and time are unchanged.

Answer: See attachment “B7-Site visit attendence sheet” for a list of interested parties who attendend the site visit. See solicitation W50S7L20B0001, block 13 for bid date and time.

9. Question: Is the rebar in the slab in tension or compression or both?

Answer: Pending

10. Question: The specs Section 221006 Part 2.1.A calls out the trench drain as 12”. It is shown as 10” in other documents. Which is correct?

11. Question: Is there an existing warranty on the roof? Manufacturer?

12. Question: Drawing E1.01 tells the electrical to provide all materials and labor to reroute conduits as required. The new trench is over 36” in depth. A lot of these conduits may be located in the trench.

Can these conduits be left in the trench exposed, or must they be rerouted? If they are to be rerouted are we to dig new lines under the trench or can we install handholes on the existing lines?

What size and type of wire’s are in the conduits?

13. Question: Several places mention section 26 05 73. Will that specification be listed and enforced or should references to it be deleted?
