About this file
This is a specification document for a federal repair contract at March Air Reserve Base in California, encompassing door hardware installation and steel doors and frames for multiple buildings.
The contract requires the supply and installation of comprehensive door hardware across multiple building types including billets, bathhouses, and kitchens. Hardware specifications include hinges (Ives brand standard with Stanley as acceptable alternate), mortise locksets and latchsets with Schlage L-series locks, exit devices (Von Duprin standard), surface closers (LCN 4040XP model), and various accessory items such as kick plates, mop plates, door sweeps, seals, and thresholds. The keying system specified is Schlage Everest 29 Primus high-security utility-patented keyway with interchangeable cores; construction keying requires temporary keyed-alike cores to be replaced with permanent cylinders at substantial completion. The finish for all hardware is BHMA 626 Satin Chrome. Seven distinct hardware groups are detailed for application to specific door numbers, with requirements to verify existing conditions prior to ordering and mount head seals before closer arms. Steel doors and frames must comply with SDI/DOOR A250.8 Level 4 specifications with maximum duty classification and insulated cores providing R-factor of 10.0 or greater. Frames require welded corners, minimum hardware reinforcing per SDI/DOOR A250.6, and appropriate anchoring for masonry or stud partition construction. Fire-rated doors and frames must comply with NFPA 80 and NFPA 105 standards with appropriate UL or FM labeling. All doors and frames require factory-primed finish or hot-dip zinc-coated finish with factory primer. Installation must follow SDI/DOOR A250.11 standards with proper plumbing, alignment, and adjustment of hardware before substantial completion.
