About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) related to a federal contract opportunity for pressure washing aircraft sun shelters. The key details are:

The 187th Fighter Wing at Dannelly Field in Montgomery, AL is seeking to award a Firm Fixed Price contract for pressure washing the aircraft sun shelters. The RFI requests information on the existing heat-cured finish on the hangar surfaces, whether chemicals or water-only can be used for pressure washing, the locations and availability of water spigots, any water reclamation requirements, and confirmation that walking on the roof panels is permitted. Responses to this RFI will inform the solicitation for this commercial services contract. Funding is not currently available, and no contract award will be made until appropriated funds are provided.

1. Heat Cured Finish on Hangars:

• Could you please provide details about the heat-cured finish applied to the hangars? Understanding this finish will help us ensure that our pressure washing methods are compatible and do not damage the surfaces. We do not have any specifics on the factory applied finish for the roof panels.

2. Use of Chemicals or Water Only:

• Are we permitted to use chemicals during the pressure washing process, or is water the only approved cleaning agent? Clarifying this will guide our choice of cleaning solutions and methods. Any chemicals have to be approved through our environmental office. A bleach water solution does not need to be approved.

3. Water Spigot Locations and Proximity:

• Where are the water spigots located around each hangar? Specifically, could you inform us about the number of water spigots within 200 feet of each hangar? Knowing this information will help us plan our water supply logistics efficiently. There are fire hydrants that can be used for supply water see attached utility map.

4. Water Reclamation Requirements:

• Do we need to implement water reclamation measures during the pressure washing process? Understanding any water reclamation requirements or environmental considerations is crucial for compliance and sustainable operations. There are no water reclamation requirements. Any debris needs to be removed with a wet/dry vacuum to prevent Foreign Object Debris (FOD) from being an aircraft intake hazard. It is likely that storm water outfalls will need to be dammed if any chemical is used. We have had pressure washing solution approved in the past and it had to be diverted to grass or a non-improved surface to avoid the storm drains.

5. Can you confirm if walking on the roof panels for pressure washing is permitted, or if an aerial lift is required. Walking on the roof panels is permitted.
