Requests for Information – Lift Station and OWS

1) For lift station A-1, the plans specify (2) Flygt pumps. Would Ebara pumps be accepted as an approved equal?

• The entire system at the 187th FW uses Flygt pumps. Alternates are not considered equal for this reason.

2) On sheet C2.4: Note 1 calls for flow meters to be installed on the inlet piping. Can additional information be provided on the quantity & types of the meters?

• A magnetic flow meter should be placed on all inlet piping into the station.

3) Per sheet C2.4 Note 1: How are the flow meters to be installed?

• Magnetic meters should be installed per manufacturers recommendations and within a below ground enclosure. Power service to the meter should be included within the pricing.

4) Sheet C2.4 Note 3 calls for a Sta-con control panel. Would a Primex control panel be accepted as an approved equal?

• The entire current base system uses Sta-con panels. Intermingling panel types within the system could cause remote reading issues since they run on different logic sequences. For this reason, Sta-con control panels are required in this project.

5) Sheet C2.2 at end of proposed force main, a note calls for an “air release valve and concrete vault per detail below” but detail is not shown. Could this detail be provided?

• This detail is a typical air release valve in a below grade vault. The detail has been requested from the design engineer and will be provided ASAP.

6) In the statement of work, 2.2.4 mentions maintenance and repair of oil water separators D1, D2, & D4. The Report speaks to a lot of maintenance issues. Can you define the maintenance and repairs expected for D1,D2 and D4?

• Page 17 of the Sewer System Investigation Reports calls for the basins of Oil Water Separators D1, D2, and D4 to be pumped out to inspect walls for cracking or deterioration. Deficiencies shall be sealed with hydraulic cement per manufacturer recommendations.
