About this file

This document contains a series of questions and answers related to a roll-up door installation project for the Alabama Army National Guard. The project involves removing three existing roll-up doors at Building 141 and installing two TKO CW Series Cruiserweight Impactable doors and one insulated roll-up door. The questions address specific installation details, particularly regarding ceiling clearance and door track mounting. Key clarifications include that all three doors will be manually operated, no motor operator is required, and installation will involve placing door tracks below ceiling tiles using threaded rod and brackets, with minimal disruption to the existing ceiling grid. The doors specified must match previously installed Cruiserweight Impactable TKO doors in Building 190, featuring high R-23 insulation value, tight perimeter weather sealing, moisture resistance, and a 1-3/4" thick insulated foam core panel.

Roll Up Door Questions

Based on the pictures, there is not enough headroom for a TKO door, at least from what I can see in the 3 pictures. There would need to be modifications made to the inside ceiling to accommodate a track. Is there an opportunity for you to request further details?

-Answer:

The project involves installing door tracks below the ceiling tiles (no modifications to the ceiling grid), using threaded rod, slotted angle, and brackets for support. Ceiling tiles may be removed for the installation process, but put back in place once completed.

Is your intent to have the hung ceiling removed in order to install the track, with the center mount motor-operator? If so, can you confirm there is the minimum of 24" above the door opening?

-Answer:

No, the ceiling grid will remain in place. Ceiling tiles may be removed to accommodate installation of tracks but return to existing place. All three doors will be manually operated; no motor operator is required. 24” inch clearance can be accomplished below the celling grid utilizing threaded rod, angle slotted, etc.
