SUBJECT: W50S6L-23-B-0002, Amendment 2 – Questions and Answers

(Hanger 21/Bldg 17508 – CLIN 0001 – Repair Vehicle Exhaust Extraction System)

1. Would it be acceptable for the contractor to utilize Coffman Engineers for the design of the fall protection upgrade or would this be considered a conflict of interest as they assisted with the evaluation for the RFP?

A. No conflict exists in using any qualified AE firm for design services related to performance of this work.

2. Line 1 states the exhaust system should be capable of “removing exhaust fumes from two

(2) simultaneously running diesel-powered aircraft support equipment”. And 0001 3.c says an exhaust adapter is required to “attach to various diesel-powered aircraft support equipment’s exhaust piping”. What various equipment will be connected to the (2) exhaust hoses? What connections sizes are required? This specific information is required to properly size the system and the (2) new exhaust hoses.

A. Pieces of diesel powered equipment most commonly used in enclosed bay is one nicknamed the MULE and it is used to lift aircraft to allow work to be done to aircraft landing gear, portable 400 hertz power generators used to power aircraft controls systems, and 80’ high reach systems used to reach suspended building systems and possibly higher portions of aircraft at times. Two to four inch diameter adapters is sufficient.

(Hanger 21/Bldg 17508 – CLIN 0002 – Repair Fall Protection Systems)

1. What is the minimum overhead clearances in the CCH hangar between the aircraft and the new fall protection rails?

A. Ten feet is minimum.

2. What are the minimum access clearances around the overhead ceiling access doors in the CCH hangar and any new structure installed as part of the nonproprietary fall protection systems?

A. They are to remain unobstructed.
