About this file

This document is a notice from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Bureau of Infectious Disease and Laboratory Sciences, regarding the Commonwealth's Pediatric and Adult Immunization Program. The program, authorized by state law since 2004, allows the Department to purchase vaccines from a list of CDC-approved vendors, including major pharmaceutical manufacturers such as AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Pfizer, and Sanofi. This mechanism enables the Commonwealth to access the lowest available vaccine pricing made available to the CDC, with distribution through the CDC's McKesson contract at no additional cost. The program is an ongoing initiative, and the current contract opportunity was posted on September 12, 2023, with a due date of May 10, 2024.

The contract provides the Commonwealth with guaranteed access to vaccine supply to support its immunization efforts across the state, particularly in Suffolk County and the city of Boston. While the contract's budget is not specified, it is likely substantial given the scope and scale of the program. The procurement is not set aside for any specific enterprise types, as it is an established program utilizing the major CDC-approved vaccine manufacturers as the current vendors under contract.
