About this file

This document is an update from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Bureau of Infectious Disease and Laboratory Sciences (BIDLS) regarding their pediatric and adult immunization program. BIDLS plans to purchase vaccines from a list of CDC-approved vendors for their Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program, which has been in place since 2004 and is currently authorized by state law. The program enables the Commonwealth to purchase vaccines at the lowest available pricing directly from the manufacturers without using third-party wholesalers. The contracts for the purchase of pediatric and adult vaccines are with GlaxoSmithKline LLC, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Pfizer, Inc., Novartis Vaccines & Diagnostics, Sanofi, and Seqirus USA, Inc.

The vaccines purchased through this mechanism are distributed via the CDC's McKesson vaccine distribution contract at no additional cost to the Commonwealth. This process ensures the lowest pricing available and guarantees direct access to vaccine supply for the state's immunization program.
