About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding Solicitation Number W31P4Q-22-R-0028 for the procurement of two configurations of Performance Oriented Packaging (POP) Boxes. The POP Boxes will be used to package and transport M-26 warheads, motors, and residual components in support of Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems and Low Cost Reduced Range programs. The solicitation does not include any clauses to account for fluctuations in raw material prices. Due to instability in the lumber market, the Army is only issuing a one-year contract. POP Box Solicitation Questions and Answers
Question #1: Based on the drawings in Attachment 0003 (drawing 13640074), it is difficult to discern the orientation of the foam within the box. Do you have another detailed image that we could reference?
Answer: We do not have another detailed image that you could reference, but please see the below following details that will help discern the orientation of the foam within the box.
1. Find #7 has a quality of 8 per the design drawing
1. Find #5 has a quality of 3 per the design drawing.
1. The qualities of Find #5 and Find #7 would be required to be delivered for each PoP box.
Question #2: In regards to the fiberboard and the foam planks, would they need to be shipped separately on a pallet?
Answer: All fiber boards and/or foam inserts would need to be shipped inside of the main POP Box. This would help keep the contents in the POP Box from moving during transit.
Question #3: Giving the volatility in the lumber market, are you considering a clause to protect offerers for large increases in raw materials and what index that would be based from?
Answer: There is not a clause in the contract to account for fluctuating material prices. ACC-Redstone is only issuing a one-year contract to account for the instability in the market.
