C.1. Scope of the Contract
This Statement of Work (SOW) defines the requirements for the manufacturing, testing, inspection, packaging, and delivery of the XM919
Individual Assault Munition (IAM), the XM922 Sub-Caliber Trainer (SCT), the Field Handling Trainer (FHT), and the Sub-Caliber Tracer
Cartridge, Inert Models and Cut-aways, spare and ancillary parts as well as providing engineering and logistics support to fulfill the requirements of this SOW. The Contractor shall furnish all labor and material to perform the work as described in this SOW, and as set forth in the contract.
C.2. Background
The XM919 is a lightweight, Fire from Enclosure (FFE) capable Shoulder Launched Munition (SLM) for combat units at the squad level employed by an individual Soldier. The XM919 IAM combines the capabilities of multiple legacy SLM systems into one multi target capable weapon, offering multiple engagement scenarios and increasing squad through depot level logistical efficiency. The IAM system consists of the XM919 IAM tactical munition and training devices to include the XM922 Sub-Caliber Trainer (SCT), associated Sub-Caliber Tracer
Cartridge, Fielding Handling Trainer (FHT). [Note: Virtual trainers (Soldier Virtual Trainer and Field Tactical Trainer) will be procured under a separate contract.] The XM919 IAM will allow Soldiers to defeat field expedient structures and light armored vehicles while providing behind the wall lethality effects in urban operations. The XM922 SCT, FHT, and Tracer Cartridge will provide sufficient realism to train the Soldier to use the XM919 IAM safely and effectively against stationary and moving targets. This effort is managed by Project Manager for Close Combat Systems (PM CCS) at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey. PM CCS is the U.S. Armys Single Manager for
Conventional Ammunition (SMCA) and fulfills the requirements of other services, including the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and U.S. Special forces (USSOCOM). This contract will be used to satisfy Army and other customer requirements.
