Text version

1. Our T wall is a little more beefy than the designed wall system, will that be an issue?

Response: The height and thickness are minimums. However, the crane used to at dictates the size and location at which the pieces will be set from. Based on the extension and boom angle, the pieces can not be much more than 10 ton. The intent NOT to use guy wires, so the designed wind load of the pieces should be at least 90mph without bracing.

2. Are these walls mating with existing walls on site?

Response: The walls are not mating others on site. Only each other.

3. Should we assume we should include lifting and handling clutches to handle the walls once everything is delivered? A) The details has "8-ton erection anchor with #6 tension bar" noted but no specific manufacture of this lifting eyes.

Response: lifting and handling clutches could be provided for moving, but the Government anticipated picking at prescribed pick points. The lifting anchors/loops does not specify the manufacture. It could be Hilti or whatever they normally use so long as it is sufficient for the purpose. The Government will be placing with a rented crane so if there are special connections for the lifting loop, then the drawings will need to be specified and or be provided with the adapter.

4. The finish on the walls, are they supposed to be form finish no brick or stone like finish?

The finish on the wall is form finish, unless they already have a form liner on their forms and it will be most economical to keep the same as brick or stone. A drawing will have to be submitted for review.

Clarification: The walls need to be at least 6" due to ability to stop potential ricochet bullets and potential cracking.

5. Due the size/height of the formwork required to fabricate these units, contractor would prefer to use "form ties" to ensure formwork stability. Small steel rods are passed through the concrete and each side of the form walls. The steel tie is snapped off after casting. We would then patch the small recessed surface hole created by the tie. Is that acceptable.

Response: Snap ties or she bolt and inner rod are acceptable. Taper ties which will leave a hole will need to be plugged and patched.

We appreciate your consideration on this matter.
