Only general notes applicable to the entire drawing shall be in Paperspace.

b. Drawing units shall be set according to the requirements for the drawing discipline, i.e. civil drawings units shall be set to the decimal format, and architectural drawings set to the architectural format. Civil site plans shall be in North Carolina State Plane (NAD 83 and NADV88) with all site plans oriented with north at the top of the sheet. Any Reorientation of a view for drafting convenience shall be done within the viewport using the “Dview and Twist” commands, objects in model space shall not be rotated. The contractor shall supply a written explanation as to how externally referenced drawings are used, view-port scales/settings, viewport layer settings, blocks and any other relevant information necessary for the Engineering Support Section of Seymour Johnson to make changes or updates to the drawings. The contractor must also be available for phone assistance to clarify any other problems encountered by the Engineering Support Section. “Paperspace” shall be used to format the final plotted drawing sheet.

c. Standard plotted paper size shall be the “ARCH-D” size sheet unless otherwise specified.

d. All drawings shall use the standard Seymour Johnson AFB project templates to include title block. Templates are available for each engineering discipline. Title block shall not be altered by the contractor.

e. Project and drawing data shall be managed using the drawing sheet set manager. Title block template files shall not be modified as attributes within the title block are used by other drawing management tools. SJAFB Drawing templates will be made available for each discipline by SJAFB Engineering Support section.

f. All Drawings (drawing sets) shall be delivered in AutoCAD format at various stages of the project. All drawings shall be submitted on CD-ROM / DVD-ROM. Submittals made at 35%, 65%, 100%, and or AS-Built. CD-ROM / DVD-ROM shall be labeled accordingly, i.e. 65% review, 100% for construction, or AS-Built as required.

g. All External Referenced (XREF) drawings will have an “xref_” at the start of the file name (i.e.

xref_base.dwg). Xref drawings shall be located and linked correctly as to ensure the externally referenced drawing will load with referencing drawing. The contractor shall not layer / nest xref drawings. Multiple xref drawings on the same level shall be allowed, but, not nested xref’s.

Each drawing file will contain only one drawing. If a drawing has an XREF drawing, the XREF shall also be a separate drawing. Xref drawings shall not contain other xref drawings i.e. nested externally referenced drawings. The contractor shall provide complete typewritten instructions for reintegrating the drawings, and must specify which XREF goes with which drawing. Contractor shall use the “Drawing Sheet Set” function of AutoCAD to create and organize the project drawing set, and the “E-Transmit” function of AutoCAD to package all drawing sets for delivery.

h. The contractor shall utilize Arial text. Text shall be 1/8” in height for all normal text, and ¼” in height for headings such as, “DETAILS, SECTIONS, PLANS etc…”. Only text fonts / styles native to the basic AutoCAD package shall be used. No unique text styles or fonts developed by the contractor, or design firm shall be used.

i. The contractor shall be provided a copy of layer standard and drawing templates utilized by the

SJAFB Drafting Section upon request. SJAFB layer standards are based on the CADD/GIS Technology Center (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers CADD STD 6.1 dated August 2019, and on the NIBS National CADD Standard v 6.0), standards are found at their web site: https://cadbim.usace.army.mil/. Compliance to CADD layer standards are critical to the integration of project drawings to the Air Force Civil Engineering NextGen IT and GIS systems.

Any new layers created by the contractor shall have narrative descriptions easily identified (i.e., https://cadbim.usace.army.mil/ walls, elec., etc.) and shall follow the CADD standard naming convention in the description field in the drawing layer manager. All objects drawn shall be placed on the appropriate layer. Dimensions and annotations shall be placed only in model space. Due to the difficulty seeing the color yellow (color #2) against a white background (either model space, paper space, or plotted hardcopy), the color yellow shall not be used.

j. Use of third party development software is acceptable provided all final drawing files submitted are native AutoCAD format. Any features peculiar to the development software used, such as shape files, menus, blocks, etc. that are not accessible using the basic AutoCAD package are not acceptable and shall be modified to ensure the drawing files may be easily maintained, edited, or changed by government personnel using the basic AutoCAD software package.

k. Final AutoCAD drawing files should exhibit good drafting practice allowing for each change and minimal storage requirements. Drawings should make use of features to limit drawing size/complexity wherever possible. Over-detailing (drawing features that are not discernible at full or half scale reproduction) is not acceptable and must be avoided. All detail notes, leaders and dimensions shall be legible when reproduced at half scale.

l. Drawings shall have no more than one layout tab. Layout tab shall have the same name as the sheet title name.

m. SJAFB does not use unique plot styles, use only out of the box “monochrome.ctb” to plot drawings. SJAFB plots all drawings using line weights and line types as assigned for each layer in layer manager. Line weights of less than 0.15mm shall not be used.

n. Provide only “un-bound” native files. CADD files provided as “bound” files (files that contain multiple reference files copied, bound, into a single file) are unacceptable and unusable for future changes or use of drawing files by SJAFB.

o. Final drawings shall be submitted with a complete hard copy list of drawing file names, layers used, etc. Project number and list of drawings on each disk will be written on the label affixed to the disk. Drawing file name shall be in accordance with SJAFB standards and shall appear in the appropriate section of the title block as directed by the SJAFB Technical Support personnel.

SJAFB Title blocks shall not be modified by the contractor as attributes are embedded in the title blocks are extracted for use in SJAFB CADD digital vault database, contractor shall update attributes contained in the Sheet Set Manager or attributes directly in the title block if not in the properties within the Sheet Set Manager. Contractor shall use both the “Drawing Sheet Set Manager” functionality of AutoCAD and the “E-Transmit” function of AutoCAD to package all drawing sets for delivery. SJAFB drawing templates and Drawing Sheet Set Manager template contain attributes to ensure consistent title block information. The “E-Transmit” functionality within the Sheet Set Manager ensures that all blocks, externally referenced files are packaged with the drawing set and ensure all references remain intact.

p. CAD and PDF files shall be sent on CD for each design submittal to allow for Government quality control review. Final CAD and PDF format drawings shall be included with the final project CD in separate folders.
