Fork Trucks The RIA-JMTC is a fast-paced industrial operation and there are materials moving all around the factory at all times via fork trucks and various other mate-rial handling equipment.

The drivers have limited visibility.

Due to the inherent visibility restrictions you may not be immediately visible to the operator. Always be aware of your surroundings and give right of way to all vehicular traffic.

Welding Arcs Welding areas have protective curtains that block the light produced by welding arcs.

Do not look at welding arcs through the gaps in the curtains or from overhead offices/areas.

Emergency Management In the event of an emergency (man-made of weather related) please follow the direction of your tour guide, Building Marshal Warden, and Building Evacuation Coordinator.

All visitors are required to follow all established emergency procedures and the direction of emergency personnel.

Personal Safety If you become injured or require medical attention, please report this to your tour guide and/or point of contact immediately.

Tour guides and/or point of contacts will report all incidents regardless of how minor or insignificant they may be.

RIA-JMTC: COMMITTED TO SAFETY

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) The following are PPE requirements for factory tours:

• Safety Shoes (inside work areas)

• Hearing Protection (as needed)

• Ankle Length Pants

• Safety Glasses

RIA-JMTC is committed to the safety of our employees, visitors, and contractors. As part of our commitment to safety, we ask if you witness any accident, close call, unsafe act, or unsafe conditions during your time at RIA-JMTC, please report it to your tour guide or Safety Office.

Safety Glasses Most areas require eye protection which must be worn at all times.

Your tour guide will determine and provide you with the type and model of safety glasses that provides the best protection for the areas you will be visiting.

Hot and Sharp Much of the work here involves hot or sharp materials and equipment.

Do not touch anything unless your guide has indicated it is safe.

Your tour guide will provide you with safety glasses and hear-ing protection (as required). Please talk to your tour guide if you have any additional questions about PPE requirements.

Safety Shoes & Foot Traffic If you are not wearing safety shoes you must remain within the white/yellow lines.

If you have open-toed shoes or sandals you must remain in a cart at all times; you are not allowed to partake in walking tours.

Use the marked pedestrian walkways whenever you are travel-ling on foot and walk to the sides of fork truck aisleways when no pedestrian pathways are available.

Use the smaller pedestrian doors rather than larger vehicle-traffic doors when transitioning to and from various manufac-turing areas.

Overhead Cranes There are overhead cranes in almost every work area. Do not walk, stand or drive under a load.

Congested Traffic Areas Be aware of your surroundings; keep in mind that many areas have congested traffic areas.

Use pedestrian lanes (striped yellow/white lines) or walk to the sides of the traffic lanes when no pedestrian lanes are available.

• Keep hands and feet inside the cart

• Only two personnel allowed per bench seat
