About this file

This document is a statement of requirements for a diesel-fired indirect heater to be procured by the Unit Training and Equipment Site (UTES).

The requirement specifies a portable, diesel-driven and diesel-fired indirect heater capable of delivering at least 400,000 BTU per hour with a minimum standard operating airflow of 1,500 CFM. The unit must operate independently of shore power with on-board diesel power generation, making it suitable for off-grid applications in commercial, industrial, aviation, construction, and emergency-response environments. Key specifications include an integrated fuel tank of at least 35 gallons, a block heater for extended operation, large pneumatic tires for mobility, and a tow bar for transport. The heater must feature essential safety components including electronic ignition, automatic flame-out protection, and overheat shut-off capability. The control panel must be user-friendly with an adjustable thermostat and temperature display, and the unit must support multiple air-discharge ports compatible with flexible ducting for rapid setup and breakdown in temporary or supplemental heating applications. The procurement includes approximately two 12" x 15' canvas hoses and three 6" x 15' canvas hoses as part of the delivery package.

Requirement: The Unit Training and Equipment Site (UTES) requires a diesel-fired, indirect heater with diesel-driven on-board power that operates independently of shore power, to provide off-grid indirect heat for commercial, industrial, and emergency applications during the cold winter months.

Minimum Essential Requirements: A portable, diesel-driven and diesel-fired indirect heater is required that is capable of delivering at least 400,000 BTU per hour with a minimum standard operating airflow of 1,500 CFM for rapid, effective heating of large spaces. The unit must feature on-board power (off-grid operation will be the primary use), auxiliary power output, and a weather-resistant, heavy-duty enclosure. It must include an integrated fuel tank of at least 35 gallons and a block heater for extended operation, and it must be easily movable via large pneumatic tires and a tow bar.

Essential safety features must include electronic ignition, automatic flame-out protection, and an overheat shut-off. The heater must have a user-friendly control panel with an adjustable thermostat and temperature display, support multiple air-discharge ports compatible with flexible ducting, and be designed for quick setup and breakdown. It must be suitable for temporary or supplemental heating in aviation, construction, industrial, or emergency-response environments.
