About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for the USCG Sitka Alaska Cutter Support Building Repair Heating System solicitation (UCGPR51291PR260000073). The Q&A clarifies the scope of work for replacing the heating system components at the USCG facility in Sitka, Alaska. The primary work involves replacing one boiler unit along with its burner and control panel, modifying boiler piping as required to accommodate the new boiler installation, and replacing two Modine heating units that currently have internal leaks and have been isolated from the system. Any valves, unions, and fittings referenced in the original Statement of Work pertain to the unit heaters and new piping configurations necessary for the boiler installation, not separate replacement items.
The solicitation mandates a mandatory site walk scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 10:00 AM for all interested contractors. All questions must be submitted via email to deno.a.stamos@uscg.mil and CWO3 Benjamin Reedy no later than Monday, July 20, 2026. Contractors are required to submit a base access form in advance of the site visit. All questions and answers will be addressed publicly with all contractors present; no private question resolution will be permitted. The scope of work and specifications have been updated as of July 16, 2026, with the closing date remaining unchanged from the original solicitation.

Questions and answers
Question 1: Please confirm whether the boiler and its burner and control panel are the only items required to be replaced in the boiler room and that the reference to valves, unions and fittings are regarding the unit heaters as in the original SOW.
Of course, the boiler piping will be modified as required to remove the existing boiler and install the new boiler but no replacement of other items apart from this.
Answer 1: The original scope of work written up was to also replace 2 of the Modine heater units in the attached picture. The current heaters have internal leaks and were looped out of the system.
1a: Confirming that the Boiler, burner, and control panel are being replaced. Unions and fittings are regarding any new piping configuration the boiler may need if piping run doesn’t match the new boiler.
