About this file
The document is a set of specifications from the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) for procuring salt brine and utility trailers across four regional locations. TDOT is seeking a 5-year contract for two types of trailers: a salt brine trailer and a utility trailer, both with a 14,000 lb gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). The trailers will be delivered to TDOT regional offices in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville, and Jackson, Tennessee. The contractor must deliver fully assembled trailers within 90 days of the purchase order, with specific detailed requirements for dimensions, construction, welding, lighting, safety features, and paint finish. Each trailer type has precise specifications for frame construction, axles, suspension, wheels, tires, safety chains, and other components.
The specifications mandate that all trailers be primed with at least two coats of primer and finished with PPG or equivalent Low HAP Gloss Black Enamel, with all components painted gloss black. The paint must be 100% lead and chromate-free, and manufacturers must provide Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) upon request. The trailers must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) regulations, including specific lighting and reflective tape requirements. The contract allows TDOT to inspect all goods and requires the contractor to redeliver or replace any trailers that do not meet the detailed specifications at no additional cost. The document indicates that a single contract will be awarded for both trailer types, with comprehensive requirements to ensure quality, durability, and compliance with transportation standards.
