About this file
This is a technical specification document issued by the City of Palo Alto Office of Transportation for the procurement of approximately 105 network switches to replace aging communications equipment at the city's signalized intersections. The specification details requirements for edge switches, core switches, fiber transceivers, and power supplies essential to the city's traffic signal network communications system. The edge switches must feature 4 ports of 1/10 Gbps SFP+ and 12 ports of 10/100/1000 Mbps Base-TX with Power over Ethernet (PoE), operating passively in temperatures from -40°C to 75°C with a minimum Mean Time Between Failures of 1,000,000 hours. The core switches must include 12 ports of 1/10 Gbps SFP+ and 8 ports of 100/1000 Mbps Base SFP, also operating passively in the same temperature range. All equipment must comply with ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standards and be UL listed. The fiber transceivers must be SFP+ form factor with duplex LC connectors rated for 10 Gbps and operating temperatures between -40°F to +185°F with a minimum five-year warranty. Power supplies must provide 240W to 400W output with 52-57 VDC nominal output and support external mounting.
All equipment must be manufactured by the same company, with the specification document identifying EtherWAN as the acceptable supplier for edge switches (EX78934X-CIN2), core switches (EG97023-CIN), and fiber transceivers (SFPTIS10M-CIN). Products shall include LIMITED LIFETIME warranties with complimentary firmware upgrades and remote technical support for the life of the product. The manufacturer must provide comprehensive documentation including complete performance specifications, installation procedures, and operations and configuration manuals in PDF format, as well as network management software for remote operation and monitoring. Technical support requirements include review of network infrastructure, delivery of detailed Layer 2/3 network design, IP and VLAN addressing scheme creation, and onsite equipment configuration and testing prior to field installation. All equipment must be delivered to the City Municipal Service Center on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and is subject to inspection and testing upon receipt, with the city retaining the right to inspect materials during configuration and deployment.
