About this file

This is a technical specifications document detailing the salient characteristics and requirements for tractor trailer units to be procured under solicitation FA558725Q0058 for the 100th Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS). The 100th LRS requires three 6x4 or 6x2 UK-specification tractor trailer units to replace aging fleet vehicles experiencing increased maintenance downtime and parts unavailability issues. The primary mission involves delivering cargo throughout the country to various RAF and USAF air bases and transporting vehicles to and from contractors.

The technical requirements specify current year tractor units with a minimum 410 HP engine, diesel fuel, manual or automatic transmission, and 44-ton minimum tonnage capacity. Key specifications include a wheelbase between 3200mm-4000mm, external dimensions of 2500mm minimum width and 12200mm-13600mm length, LED lighting systems, and EU-compliant air suspension and braking systems. The units must accommodate two personnel with separate sleeping berths, include satellite navigation tailored for UK/European roads, and feature disabled tachographs. Additional requirements include comprehensive documentation (operator manuals, service manuals, illustrated parts breakdowns), a minimum 36-month warranty, train-the-trainer programs, and delivery to RAF Mildenhall. The contractor must provide protective coatings in blue/white/black colors, unique identification markings per MIL-STD-130, and ensure all materials meet commercial standards with enhanced rust protection for heavily salted areas.
