About this file

This document is a bid set of construction documents for the Tiverton Public Library "Learning Landscape Phase I" project located in Tiverton, Rhode Island. The project involves the construction of a new outdoor landscape feature including a walkway, story walk signs, split rail fencing, boulder retaining wall, and associated plantings at the library site. The bid set, prepared by Eponymous Practice landscape architecture studio, is dated June 20, 2025, and consists of six detailed sheets (L-000 through L-400) covering cover sheet, site survey, site demolition and preparation, materials and grading, planting plan, and site details. The documents provide comprehensive technical specifications, including site layout, grading notes, planting instructions, and construction details for various landscape elements.

The bid documents include multiple alternates for planting, giving the owner flexibility in implementation: a base bid for standard planting preparation, Alternate 2 involving specific shrub plantings (22 Sweetfern and 6 Arrowwood Viburnum), and Alternate 3 featuring a meadow plug planting with various native species including Butterflyweed, Bluestar, Aster, and Coneflower. The project includes specific technical requirements for site preparation, including erosion control, utility protection, and careful preservation of existing site features. Contractors are required to submit product samples, conduct field verifications, and coordinate closely with the landscape architect throughout the implementation process. The documents emphasize careful site management, minimal traffic disruption, and adherence to local regulations during construction.

PLANTING NOTES

1. The Contractor shall supply all plant material in quantities sufficient to complete the planting shown on all drawings.

2. Contractor shall verify all existing conditions in the field. Report any discrepancies to the Landscape Architect for design prior to commencing planting.

3. All plant material shall conform to the guidelines established by “The American Standard for Nursery Stock” published by the American Nursery and Landscape Association, latest edition.

4. All plants shall be balled and burlap unless otherwise noted on the plant list.

5. All plants shall be approved by Landscape Architect prior to their installation at the site.

7. Plants to be transplanted shall be flagged and exact planting locations staked in the field. Layout of transplanted trees shall adhere to requirements described in note #8.

9. Individual shrubs, groundcovers, and grasses shall be laid out by the Contractor at the spacing indicated on the drawings for review and approval by the Architect and Owner prior to planting. Plants shall be turned to the desired orientation as directed by the Architect or Owner.

10. Plants shall be installed with the same relationship to finish grade as in the nursery.

11. All areas disturbed by construction activities are to be fine graded and seeded.
