The Contractor shall protect the existing LFG collection system from damage by his forces throughout the construction project. The existing LFG collection system manifold and lateral piping in the proposed Phase 2 closure area is planned to be disconnected and remain buried in place once the above-liner LFG collection system is constructed and the existing wellheads are connected to the new piping.
P. Similarly, the County has installed interim stormwater inlets and downcomer pipes in the Phase 2 closure area and on the open top within the construction limit areas to control erosion. The Contractor shall remove the interim stormwater pipes and inlets within the Phase 2 closing area and replace with new pipes and inlets as shown on the Drawings and specified. The intermediate cover in the top area is required to be graded prior to substantial completion for positive flow towards the new Phase 2 inlet structures and temporary stormwater inlets and pipes installed as required by the plans to prevent erosion.
Q. Any damage by the Contractor to the existing LFG collection system shall be reported to the Engineer and County’s LFG operator immediately in order for the LFG operator to deactivate the LFG collection system for that area and by-pass the damaged section. The LFG collection system supplies fuel to the onsite LFG Pretreatment Facility that prepares the LFG to be sent to the adjacent power plant to produce electricity. Damage to the existing LFG collection system may result in oxygen intrusion in the system requiring the

LFG Pretreatment Facility operations to be adjusted or shut down to prevent explosions or other accidents and result in secondary damages. The damages to the LFG collection system shall be repaired immediately by the Contractor to original or better conditions at no cost to the County.
R. In general, the following work components for Part B of this Project shall be completed, tested, and fully operational and shall include but are not limited to the following:
1. Site preparation and mobilization.
2. Demolition and removal of existing leachate sump components at Bays
8 through 13 as indicated on the Drawings and in the specifications.

4. Installation of concrete pads and FFCRS erosion and drainage control at Bays 8 through 13 as indicated on the Drawings and in the specifications.
5. Sodding all disturbed areas of the Project Site.
S. Work also includes coordination with the County’s LFG operator, Site Maintenance Contractor and the operation of the onsite LFG Pretreatment Plant and leachate pump station to minimize the number of shutdowns and the duration of each shut down. The coordination includes participation in pre-activity meetings with the Engineer and County operations staff, County’s LFG operator, and the Site Maintenance Contractor prior to each shut down.
No shut-down will be allowed without a minimum of 48-hour advance written notice by the Contractor to the County. Shutdown of more than 4 hours will not be allowed. A Contractor Assistance Request form to be prepared by Contractor prior to each shutdown event.
T. The Contractor shall coordinate his work with the County’s site maintenance contractor and other contractors, the County’s forces and others who may be working in same general vicinity.
U. The Work of this Contract is divided into a lump sum component and a unit price component. The unit price portion of the Contract consists of work associated with the initial solid waste grading, earthwork and installation of closure system protective cover. Other Work required in the Contract Documents, shown on the Drawings, and described in the specifications is part of the lump sum portion of the Contract.
