Salient Characteristics – Austere Resuscitative Surgical Medical Monitor

1. Background:

The Special Operations Medical Detachment is a highly specialized medical unit comprised of four Austere Resuscitative Surgical Teams. These teams require patient vital signs monitoring equipment that is compact, lightweight, portable and durable to provide patient care in a multitude of different environments. Current Army fielded vital signs monitors reduce mobility and versatility in austere environments and A2/AD. Key performance parameters (KPP) and key system attributes (KSA) were determined by subject matter experts in austere resuscitative surgical casualty care, the following characteristics were determined necessary to provide the appropriate capability to mitigate the risk associated with the capability gap. using the UFR that was obtained earlier this fiscal year.
