The specifications detail the materials, installation methods, and performance standards required for Shaw Grass products to be used as playground surfacing across multiple district school sites. A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for March 31, 2026 at 10:00 AM, with prequalification applications due by April 2, 2026 and final approval by April 13, 2026. Questions must be submitted through the e-procurement portal no later than 2:00 PM on Friday, April 3, 2026, and bids are due by 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with intent to award on April 24, 2026 and tentative award on May 6, 2026. The resulting contract shall be for one year with options to renew for up to five additional years at the District's discretion.
Bidders must hold a valid California Class B contractor's license with appropriate subcontractor classifications and be manufacturer-certified installers for either Miracle or Playworld equipment with at least five years of documentable public agency experience. Unit prices must be net and all-inclusive of equipment delivery, installation, labor, insurance, applicable taxes, overhead, and profit, with payment and performance bond premiums listed separately. Bid security of 10 percent of the estimated contract amount of $1,500,000 is required, and liquidated damages are set at $1,000 per calendar day for delays beyond the completion date. This is a prevailing wage public works contract subject to California Labor Code requirements; all contractors and subcontractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations before bidding and maintain active registration throughout the contract duration. The District will provide all playground equipment, outdoor equipment, and surfacing materials; contractors must furnish all labor, installation hardware, incidentals, and related services. Work may be issued district-wide on an as-needed basis via purchase orders.
