About this file

This document contains a list of 90 structures across the United States with structural monitoring systems installed by the USGS to record earthquake data. It identifies priority sites in Southern California, Northern California, the Pacific Northwest, and the Intermountain West, Central and Eastern US that could be included in a structural upgrade contract to modernize seismic equipment that is over 20 years old. The highest priority sites would be upgraded first. In addition to upgrading listed structures, the contractor may also perform maintenance on other 3-component strong motion stations near the priority sites to improve cost efficiency.

The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 140G0323R0004 for the National Strong Motion Project Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract with the Department of the Interior US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants to upgrade structural monitoring equipment at sites across the United States.

Structural Upgrade SOW Appendix – List of Structures The USGS has more than 90 buildings that have structural monitoring systems installed to record earthquakes to improve our understanding of the response of engineered buildings to ground shaking. The link below is a list of all structures currently included as part of the structural monitoring program within the USGS. https://earthquake.usgs.gov/monitoring/nsmp/arrays/#Buildings Many of these structures are still using seismic equipment that was designed more than two decades ago and require updating to modern technology. The list below contains the structures that could be included as part of this structural upgrade contract, sorted by geographical region and then by priority within each region. Priority 1 are the stations with the oldest equipment and would be the first to upgrade. In addition to the sites below, the contractor may be requested to visit other 3-component strong motion stations in the vicinity of these sites to perform maintenance, given the proximity and cost savings in travel.
