This is a Statement of Work for Argonne National Laboratory's procurement of three integrated custom-engineered in-situ environmental systems designed for the Advanced Photon Source 26-ID Hard X-ray Nanoprobe. The contractor must deliver: Project A—one liquid/electrochemistry holder system with pneumatic pumping, potentiostat, MEMS chips, replaceable cartridge system, test vacuum station, and Python API/EPICS integration; Project B1—one heating/biasing plus gas holder system with controller (minimum 40V DC output, 0-10 mA current range, 1 nA resolution), gas-handling system, MEMS chips, ambient testing station, and software integration; and Project B2—one removable-tip TEM/nanoprobe-compatible heating or biasing holder compatible with a JEOL 2100F transmission electron microscope. All three projects must be supplied by a single contractor as one integrated procurement; partial bids are not accepted. Each holder must meet strict mechanical envelopes (14 mm diameter, 75 mm height, 100 g mass), provide 3 mm sample-to-optic clearance, achieve vacuum compatibility to 1×10⁻⁶ Torr, and support specific angular access requirements. The contractor is responsible for design reviews, factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, two days of on-site training at Argonne's Lemont, Illinois facility, and comprehensive documentation.

The anticipated total period of performance is six to seven months post-order, divided into three phases: Phase 1 (design and fit verification, 2-4 weeks) culminating in physical fit-check replicas; Phase 2 (fabrication, assembly, factory acceptance, 12-18 weeks); and Phase 3 (delivery, installation, site acceptance, and training). Project A must deliver 40 electrochemistry electrode chips, 40 liquid-cell chips, 80 capping chips, and include a new commercial potentiostat. ANL PI: Rui Liu

1.0 Background

The Advanced Photon Source 26-ID Hard X-ray Nanoprobe provides nanoscale X-ray imaging, diffraction, spectroscopy, and related measurement capabilities for investigating functional, quantum, energy, and structural materials.

APS 26-ID presently has MEMS-based capabilities for in-situ heating and electrical-biasing experiments.
