About this file
This Statement of Work outlines requirements for a water purification system needed at the USDA ARS U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory in Fort Pierce, Florida to service newly installed growth chambers at the Picos Road farm site. The system must remove mineral contaminants, including Ferrous and Ferric iron, from well water and provide reverse osmosis filtered water.
The required system includes a 12" HE water softener, 12" HE catalytic filter, reverse osmosis system, 20" x 4" sediment filter, 10" calcite filter, PNE 1Hp jet pump, and 500-gallon holding tank with float. The contractor must provide installation, connection to two existing water sources, startup, system programming, and 3 years of RO maintenance. Installation must occur during normal farm business hours, with no materials provided by the government. This is a Total Small Business Set-Aside under NAICS 221310 with a size standard of $41.0M. Questions are due by December 12, 2024 at 12:00 PM CT, and quotes must be submitted by December 19, 2024 at 3:00 PM CT.

Statement of Work Water Purification System for pair of farm growth chambers USDA, ARS, U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory 2001 S. Rock Road Fort Pierce, Florida 34945 11/18/24 Background:
The USDA has recently installed a pair of growth chambers at the Picos road farm site. The growth chambers require a higher quality water than the current water supply provides. There is no other water source available at Picos Road so there is a need for a water purification system to provide pure mineral free water to the growth chambers.
Scope of work:
Provide a water purification system to remove any contaminants from the water to be used by the growth chambers. The system must be able to remove minerals and contaminants and provide reverse osmosis water to the chambers.
Contractor requirements:
The contractor must provide a water softening system that will be adequate to remove any mineral contaminants from the farm well water. The system must remove Ferrous and Ferric iron, clarify and remove any odor components. Reverse osmosis filtration will then remove any reaming impurities and reduce total dissolved solids. A calcite filter will be used to buffer the water to a pH neutral range. The price for this system must include installation, tie into 2 existing water sources, start up and system programming. Also included in this contract will be a 3 years maintenance for the RO system. The water system capacity must meet or exceed anticipated flow rates for the system.
The system will include:
1 - 12” HE water softener 1 - 12” HE catalytic filter 1 - Reverse Osmosis (RO) system 1 - 20” x 4” sediment filter 1 - 10” calcite filter 1 - PNE 1Hp jet pump 1 - 500 gallon holding tank with float 3 years maintenance on RO installation The contractor must complete the installation during normal farm business hours. The government will not provide any materials for this installation.
