About this file

This is a Statement of Work for the procurement of customized Off-Axis Parabolic (OAP) Mirrors dated June 18, 2025. The procuring agency is the Air Force Institute of Technology's (AFIT) Center for Technical Intelligence and Research (CTISR), which requires these mirrors for the Extreme Light Lab (ELL) to support student-led research into advanced laser-matter interactions and provide hands-on experience for graduate students in future warfighting applications.

The vendor must provide OAP mirrors manufactured from fused silica with a 30mm diameter and a parabolic focus at 45 degrees. The optical specifications include a surface roughness of less than 1nm RMS, a scratch/dig specification of 20-10, and a polished back surface. The mirrors must be coated with protected gold providing average reflectivity of ≥97% at a wavelength of 780±40nm and an angle of incidence of 45 degrees. The vendor's scope includes shipping the instrument to and from the vendor facility, conducting quality testing of the mirrors, and delivering the completed mirrors with associated test data. No pricing terms, response dates, award dates, or contract vehicle type are specified in this document.

Off-Axis Parabolic Mirrors

Title: Off-Axis Parabolic (OAP) Mirrors

Document Date: 6/18/2025.

1. Scope: The vendor should provide the OAP Mirrors with the requirements listed below to include shipping of instrument to and from vendor facility, quality testing of the mirrors, and delivery of mirrors and test data.

1.1 Background: AFIT's Center for Technical Intelligence and Research (CTISR) requires these custom OAP mirrors to provide a precise focal spot in the Extreme Light Lab (ELL). It will significantly impact on the organization's ability to conduct student-lead research into advanced laser-matter interactions. This system will provide invaluable hands-on experience for graduate students. It represents an extremely unique capability that requires substantial study to mature it for future war fighting applications. AFIT students are uniquely equipped to perform this research.

2. Applicable Documents OAP Mirror quote.

3. Requirements/Salient Characteristics: These OAP mirrors are customized off-axis parabolic mirrors.

3a. The substrate is Fused Silica.

3b. The substrate is 30mm in diameter.

3c. The parabolic focus is at 45 degrees.

3d. The roughness of the surface is <1nm RMS.

3e. The scratch/dig specification is 20-10.

3f. The substrate’s back is polished.

3g. The substrate’s Coating is protected Gold with an average reflectivity of >/=97%, at a wavelength of 780+/- 40nm, and at an Angle of Incidence of 45 degrees.
