About this file
This document is a Specification for Procurement of a Dual Positive Displacement Pump Skid for Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY).
The specification requires procurement of a pump skid outfitted with two positive displacement pumps capable of delivering 60 gallons per minute (GPM) at 1,000 psig, with individual fluid inlets and a single combined outlet. The pump skid must include drive motors with variable frequency drive (VFD) controllers and be mounted on a carbon steel frame. Key component requirements include: two CAT 3531DHS.0220 pumps (or equivalent) rated for 36 GPM at 1,000 psig with 25 horsepower 230/460VAC motors; SEW Eurodrive RX87AMS284/286 reduction gear boxes; YASKAWA VFD CIMR-VU4A0038GAA controllers; stainless steel piping (grade 304/316) and fittings; three-piece stainless steel ball valves; and Aquatrol Series 743 relief valves. All fluid-contacting components must comply with detrimental material and cleanliness standards per MIL-STD-2041 and MIL-STD-767. The specification prohibits cadmium plating, brass/bronze components (unless authorized), mercury, and certain thread sealants. The mounting frame design must accommodate dimensions of approximately 65 × 65 × 65 inches with a floor loading not exceeding 250 lbs/ft². Testing requirements include hydrostatic pressure testing of inlet and outlet piping assemblies and operational testing validating the 60 GPM capability at 1,000 psig, emergency stop functionality, individual VFD de-energization, and performance curves. The vendor must provide certification of compliance, inspection and test reports, operating manuals, completed assembly drawings with material lists, and lubricant documentation with safety data sheets.

SPECIFICATION FOR PROCUREMENT OF DUAL POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT PUMP SKID
8.3.1 Pump skid is capable of supplying 60 GPM at 1000 psig.
8.3.2 Pump skid can be operated and set to hold various RPMs/flowrates.
8.3.3 Emergency stop button/switch immediately shuts down/secures pump(s).
8.3.4 Each VFD can be individually de-energized without affecting energization or operation of the other VFD.
8.3.5 Performance curve for pump skid (RPM vs. Flowrate and Discharge Pressure).
8.4 Water utilized for testing shall meet requirements detailed in paragraph 3.21.
8.5 Pump skid (Pumps and Piping) shall be drained and blown dry, using dry filtered air or nitrogen, to maximum extent practical upon completion of testing (hydrostatic and operational).
9. Pump Skid Marking Requirements.
9.1 The pump skid assembly shall be marked in two locations on its mounting frame. Marking shall provide the following information as a minimum:
(1) Purchase Order Number
(2) Pump Skid Serial Number: TCPS-2, TCPS-3.
(3) Pump Skid Weight in Pounds.
9.2 Markings shall be made per details of paragraph 3.6.
10. Vendor shall provide the following certification of compliance, inspection/test reports and additional information.
10.1 Certification of Compliance.
10.2 Inspection/Test Reports
10.2.1 Hydrostatic testing of inlet and outlet piping assemblies. (see paragraphs 8.1 and 8.2).
10.2.2 Operational testing of the pump skid assembly. (see paragraph 8.3)
10.2.3 Pump skid drained and blown dry upon completion of testing (see paragraph 8.5)
10.2.4 All fluid contacting components/materials shall meet detrimental material and cleanliness requirements of references 2.1 and 2.2 (See paragraph 3.2).
10.2.5 All lubricants used on fluid contacting components meet detrimental material requirements of reference 2.1. Any factory lubricants that do not meet detrimental material requirements of reference 2.1 have been removed, surfaces cleaned per requirements of reference 2.2 and lubricant replaced with one which is compliant with reference 2.1 (see paragraph 3.2).
