344TH RECRUITING SQUADRON
SEMI-ANNUAL TRAINING CONFERENCE
Statement of Objectives (SOO)
4 April 2024
1. PURPOSE
Per paragraph 3.8.1 of the AFRS Training Handbook, we must conduct four formal training meetings a year to include one semi-annual training conference. The purpose is to accomplish mandatory training and team-building activities. In conjunction with this event, we are also having a change of command ceremony and two retirement ceremonies.
2. SCOPE / MISSION
We are bringing in our entire squadron for these events, to include some members from the 369th Recruiting Group and outside members to conduct training briefs. We are estimating around 100 members to be in attendance, give or take a few people. Training will take place Tuesday-Thursday, with Monday and Friday being travel days. Our mission is to conduct effecting and value-based training and provide a smooth transition for our new commander as we begin a new chapter under his leadership. We also wish to give a warm farewell to our outgoing commander and first sergeant as they retire after leading our squadron to number one in production in AFRS, while always taking care of the members first.
3. PERIOD AND PLACE OF PERFORMANCE
The events are taking place in Dallas, Texas, from 3-7 June of 2024.
4. BACKGROUND
We have a semi-annual training conference once a year around this time. As we are a geographically separated unit, this is one of only two times a year when our members will all be together. Due to the infrequency of our gatherings, we also encourage family members to attend and build a network of support. This is an opportunity for everyone to connect and build camaraderie in an otherwise lonely career field. This is also a time when we distribute quarterly awards, recognizing everyone’s hard work.
5. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES / REQUIRED RESULTS
We are required to conduct at least one hour of IMPACT training at every formal training event. We are also encouraged to bring in subject matter experts, outside organizations, higher headquarters personnel, and Total Force partners, to conduct training.
6. OPERATING CONSTRAINTS (IF APPLICABLE)
Our squadron HQ is located in Arlington, Texas, and has recruiting offices scattered throughout its 106K square mile AOR. While the HQ is centrally located, its conference room is too small to accommodate our group. Additionally, the nearest military installation to HQ is Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, but the on-base lodging facility has only 65 rooms, which falls very short of our estimated 100 guests. Therefore, we requested proposals from other hotels in the area that have enough rooms and meeting space that can meet our needs. We want to stick with a central location to provide the shortest total travel time for our members, and having the meeting space in the hotel helps relieve additional travel time and possible parking fees.
