About this file

This is a Statement of Need for the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center seeking procurement of one temperature-controlled sterile storage cabinet with installation and in-servicing support.

The cabinet must be designed to meet VA Directive 1116 and AAMI ST79 sterile storage requirements for the Sterile Processing Service. The requirement stems from an updated directive mandating storage duration for reusable medical devices every 24 hours (previously 72 hours) to achieve compliance following a VISN 19 CSPO annual survey. The equipment must be new, unused, manufactured no more than 2 years before the purchase order date, and shipped in original OEM packaging. The cabinet must maintain specific environmental conditions: 66°F to 72°F temperature, 20% to 60% relative humidity, and positive pressure of +0.03" WC. Additional critical specifications include five adjustable shelves (27.75" W x 18" D each), overall exterior dimensions of 30.5" W x 32" D x 77.5" H, not exceeding 450 lbs, HEPA filtration exceeding ISO 4 cleanliness, 230 air changes per hour, steam humidification with a 3/4 gallon integral reservoir, integrated condensate and pressure monitoring systems with alarms, IEC 60601-1 medical standard compliance for power supply, 120V hospital-grade 10-foot plug-in cord, and capability to interface with VA network environmental monitoring systems. Delivery must occur within 30 days of award to 1700 N. Wheeling Street, Aurora, CO 80045, during Monday-Friday business hours (0700-1500 hrs), excluding federal holidays. The contractor must provide manufacturer's warranty commencing upon VA acceptance and verification of operational functionality, including all travel and shipping costs for warranty repairs, along with operation and maintenance manuals. The vendor is responsible for waste disposal and must immediately notify affected VA Medical Centers of any device recalls or required modifications with complete documentation.
