About this file
The file is an Excel-based Sample Testing/Analysis Schedule for Industrial Hygiene (IH) Airborne Particulate and Vapors Samples, detailing comprehensive analytical methodologies for various compound and element testing. The schedule covers multiple testing profiles including Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PNA/PAHs), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), toxic metals, elemental analyses, silica, asbestos, dust characterization, and fungal testing, with specified turnaround times ranging from 24 hours to 5 days across base and option years.
The related federal contract opportunity is a Pre-Solicitation Request for Information (RFI) from Brookhaven Science Associates on behalf of Brookhaven National Labs, seeking qualified small businesses, with a preference for women-owned small businesses, to perform laboratory analysis of industrial hygiene samples. The solicitation (SS_463300) is issued by the Department of Energy Office of Science and requests interested parties to confirm their capability to meet the attached requirements and provide their SAM UEI number via email. The document emphasizes detailed testing methodologies, including specific analytical techniques like NIOSH methods, ICP-OES, PLM, TEM, and XRD for various environmental and occupational health sample analyses.

*BNL may request analysis for Total Beryllium, Beryllium and Beryllium Compounds (as Be) of airborne Beryllium, surface wipe and bulk sampling by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) instrumentation.
Limits of Detection should meet DOE, ACGIH and/or OSHA standards for proper analytical reporting of sample results (i.e. 25% of the standard).
Please view the supplemental document BNL-Adopted Surface Wipe Criteria for BNL Limit of Detection (Non-Operational Areas) for wipe samples.
Where BNL has a lower detection limit, BNL's detection limit must be met.
BNL also may use passive dosimeters and sorbent tubes.
Inhalable sample analysis may also be required.
BNL follows the ACGIH TLV and OSHA PEL standards.
