About this file
This is an irrigation layout plan for the SR 83 (US 331) Landscaping Improvements project in Walton County, Florida, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The project encompasses sod replacement and irrigation system installation along the scenic corridor median from SR 30 (US 98) to north of Chat Holley Road, spanning approximately 256,500 square feet. The work is divided into two phases: Phase 1 extends from Coastal Center Drive to the south side of the Clyde B. Wells Bridge, and Phase 2 runs from US Highway 98 to Coastal Center Drive. A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for October 27, 2025, at 10:00 am, with bid responses due on November 17, 2025, at 3:00 pm. The contract duration is 60 days for substantial completion, with an additional 30 days allocated for punch list completion.
The irrigation system specifications require contractors to install Rain Bird pressure compensating emitters with flow rates of 3 gallons per plant per day and 1 gallon per day for maintenance, using minimum Schedule 40 PVC piping buried at least 12 inches deep and trenched a minimum of 12 inches from the back of curb. Contractors must provide a one-year warranty on the irrigation system against defects in material and workmanship, verify the location of all existing utilities with an 811 dig ticket prior to excavation, and ensure 100% coverage of all planted and sod areas. Additional requirements include 48-hour advance notification to the Beach Operations Department prior to construction, compliance with FDOT Index 600 Series traffic control plans, written approval for all lane and shoulder closures (minimum 48 hours prior), and restoration of any road or property damaged during construction. The total project cost is estimated at approximately $670,000, structured as a lump sum bid with six line items including mobilization, maintenance of traffic, removal of existing sod and site preparation, Zoysia sod installation, irrigation system components and installation, and a 10% owner's contingency. Contractors are required to provide performance and payment bonds, maintain a full-time on-site superintendent, and adhere to liquidated damages of $1,685 per calendar day for project delays.
