About this file
This is an irrigation layout plan document for Walton County, Florida's SR 83 (US 331) Landscaping Improvements project, a joint initiative between Walton County and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The project encompasses sod replacement and irrigation installation across approximately 256,500 square feet of the SR 83 (US 331) scenic corridor median from SR 30 (US 98) to north of Chat Holley Road. The work is divided into two phases: Phase 1 extends from Coastal Center Drive to the south side of the Clyde B. Wells Bridge, and Phase 2 extends from US Highway 98 to Coastal Center Drive. The mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for October 27, 2025, at 10:00 am, with bid responses due on November 17, 2025, at 3:00 pm. The contract duration is 60 days for substantial completion, with an additional 30 days allotted for punch list completion. Contractors must notify the Beach Operations Department 48 hours prior to construction and submit an 811 dig ticket prior to excavation to verify utility locations.
The irrigation system must be designed and installed using Rain Bird pressure compensating emitters with specified flow rates of 3 gallons per plant and 1 gallon per day, with all piping consisting of minimum Schedule 40 PVC buried at least 12 inches deep and trenched a minimum of 12 inches from the back of curb. The contractor is required to provide a one-year warranty on the irrigation system against defects in material and workmanship and ensure 100% coverage of all planted and sod areas without overspray onto roadways or median openings. All lane and shoulder closures must be requested in writing and approved a minimum of 48 hours prior to work, with up to 2 weeks allowed for the approval process. The project is structured as a lump sum bid with six line items: mobilization, maintenance of traffic, removal of existing sod and site preparation, Zoysia sod installation, irrigation system components and installation, and a 10% owner's contingency, with the total project cost estimated at approximately $670,000. Payment will be made in two progress payments upon substantial completion of each phase, and contractors will be subject to liquidated damages of $1,685 per calendar day for project delays.
