About this file

The document is a comprehensive Fire Sprinkler Inventory for the City of Santa Cruz, California, detailing fire sprinkler systems across 27 municipal buildings and locations. The inventory is part of a proposed 5-year term contract for fire sprinkler inspections, testing, certifications, and repairs, covering facilities such as City Hall, Fire Stations, Libraries, Parks and Recreation buildings, Police Department, Water Pollution Control Facility, and Wharf-related structures. The contract requires comprehensive services in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards, including labor, materials, hardware, equipment, supervision, and necessary permits for maintaining fire sprinkler systems.

The inventory reveals significant maintenance needs, with multiple buildings having failed their most recent inspection in December 2018. The total square footage of buildings with sprinkler systems spans approximately 404,000 square feet, encompassing diverse municipal properties ranging from small library branches to large multi-story facilities like the Locust Street Garage. Most buildings have wet sprinkler systems, with some specific notes about system configurations, such as the Beach Promenade Deck having sprinklers below the deck and the Wharf having 26 sprinkler loops and additional sprinkler lines. The contract opportunity appears designed to address the widespread need for systematic fire sprinkler maintenance and bring municipal buildings into compliance with safety standards.

All the buildings have sprinklers, the only dry systems out here are all located in restaurant kitchens, the Beach Promenade Deck has sprinklers below decks, and we have seven hydrants and an FDC at the foot of the Wharf. Additionally, there are 26 sprinkler loops running east and west along the length of the Wharf, and a sprinkler line that runs parallel to the water main over its entire length. - Jon
