PLACE CAPS, REMOVED FROM BRAKE CHAMBERS DURING THE CAGING PROCESS, INTO A BAG CONFORMING TO MIL-B-117, STYLE 2, TYPE I, CLASS B, SIZE 8 X 10. CLOSURE: HEAT SEAL. SECURE BAG TO ONE OF THE BRAKE CHAMBERS WITH TAPE CONFORMING TO PPP-T-60, TYPE III, CLASS 1.

C. FILL AXLE DIFFERENTIAL OPERATING LEVEL WITH OPERATING FLUID. ROTATE BRAKE DRUMS TO PROVIDE PROTECTION TO THE INTERNAL PARTS OF THE AXLE ASSEMBLY AND SEAL ALL OPENINGS. ATTACH A TAG TO EACH END OF AXLE STATING "RESERVOIRS ARE FILLED

WITH MIL-PRF-2105 GRADE GO-80/90 OPERATING LUBRICANT."

D. APPLY PRESERVATIVE TO ALL UNPAINTED EXTERIOR SURFACES EXCEPT THE U-JOINT YOKE. PRESERVE ALL UNPAINTED SURFACES

OF BRACKET "C".

E. APPLY PRESERVATIVE TO UNPAINTED SURFACES OF THE U-JOINT YOKE INCLUDING THE THREADED HOLES. WRAP WITH MIL-121, TYPE II, GRADE A, CLASS 2 AND SECURE WITH PPP-T-60, TYPE III, CLASS 1 TAPE. NOTE: MANUFACTURER'S PLASTIC PROTECTIVE CAPS

ARE ACCEPTABLE AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE USE OF WRAP.

F. ALL OPENED PORTS SHALL BE SEALED WITH CAPS / PLUGS CONFORMING TO NAS 847 IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-2073-1C.

MANUFACTURER'S CAPS / PLUGS ARE ACCEPTABLE.

G. WRAP EACH WHEEL STUD AND SECURE WITH PPP-T-60, TYPE III, CLASS 1 TAPE. NOTE: MANUFACTURER'S CAPS ARE ACCEPTABLE. NOTE: PREPARE A TAG STATING, "STUDS HAVE BEEN PRESERVED WITH MIL-PRF-16173 GRADE 4 PRESERVATIVE.

1. REMOVE NUT (1) AND WASHER (2) FROM CAGING BOLT (3) AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 10 ON PAGE 11.

2. PULL OUT CAGING BOLT (3) FROM CAGING BOLT HOLDER (4) AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 10 ON PAGE 11.

3. TURN RUBBER CAP (5) COUNTER CLOCKWISE 1/4 TURN AND REMOVE CAP (5) FROM BACK OF AIR CHAMBER (6) AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 11

ON PAGE 11.

4. INSERT T END OF CAGING BOLT (3) IN BACK OF AIR CHAMBER (6) AND LOCK IN PLACE BY TURNING CAGING BOLT CLOCKWISE 1/4 TURN

AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 12 AND FIGURE 13 ON PAGE 11.

5. POSITION WASHER (2) AND NUT (1) ON CAGING BOLT (3) AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 14 ON PAGE 11.

6. TIGHTEN NUT (1) UNTIL BRAKE SHOE IS CAGED AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 15 ON PAGE 11.

NOTE: AFTER CAGING ALL FOUR AIR CHAMBERS YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO ROTATE THE BRAKE DRUMS. ONCE THIS IS

ACCOMPLISED, THE BRAKE DRUMS CAN BE REMOVED.
