About this file
This specification document outlines requirements for a weapons storage system for the Central Laboratory in Kentucky. The project involves procurement of a modular weapons storage and shelving system with fixed infrastructure and moveable carriages to be installed in two separate rooms. The system must accommodate a minimum storage capacity of 272 long guns ranging from 32 to 52 inches in length, including various configurations such as double-barreled, pump action, lever action, bolt action, semi-automatic, and assault rifles, with provisions for storing weapons equipped with optics. The specification requests that vendors conduct onsite measurements as part of the bidding process.
The weapons storage system must meet specific technical requirements including powder-coated finish in standard paint colors, fully slotted back panels for individual adjustability of all components, and the capability to store weapons vertically and laterally with optics attached to the top, bottom, or side of units. The system must feature ABS non-marring weapon holders with adjustable barrel saddles and retainer cords, adjustable weapon base slots with grooves for multi-position inserts, and anchor brackets to secure shelving to walls and floors with factory-installed adjustable levelers. The shelving structure must include two full-width bolted cross bars with a minimum 14-gauge folded steel construction and 9-gauge steel end plates to reinforce the back panel and minimize sway. The vendor must provide a minimum five-year warranty on the system.
