About this file
This specification manual details construction requirements for exterior door and frame replacements at multiple Westwood Community School District buildings in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, prepared by Ghafari Associates. The project involves replacing exterior doors, frames and hardware at Robichaud High School, Thorne Elementary, Tomlinson Middle School, and Daly Elementary, with work including selective demolition, masonry repair, thermal insulation, firestopping, aluminum-framed entrances, hollow metal doors and frames, door hardware, glazing, joint sealants, and painting. The specifications outline detailed technical requirements for materials, installation methods, quality assurance, testing procedures, and closeout documentation. Appendices provide door hardware schedules specific to each school building.
The specifications require contractors to provide performance and payment bonds, maintain insurance coverage, and comply with prevailing wage requirements. Materials and workmanship must be warranted for various periods depending on the component, with many items carrying 5-10 year warranties. The documents detail requirements for submittals, testing, mock-ups, and quality control measures. Specific pricing terms, budget amounts, and funding sources are not included in these technical specifications. The specifications reference coordination with the Owner's security systems and access control requirements, particularly for electronically controlled doors and hardware.
