The document specifies comprehensive preservation, packing, and marking requirements for installation kits containing multiple component types. Preservation requirements vary by component: technical literature must use Method 31; brackets and bracket mountings must follow MIL-STD-2073-1 code 10-1-00-CA-NA-B-ED with cushioning on sharp corners only; cable assemblies must be coiled and preserved using Method 31 with quarter-inch cushioning material; connectors must conform to MIL-DTL-55330; circuit card assemblies and printed circuit boards must follow CECOM Special Packaging Instruction AG00000601; electrostatic discharge sensitive (ESDS) electronic components must use MIL-STD-2073-1 specialized preservation code "GX" and be placed in fiberboard boxes conforming to ASTM D5118; non-ESDS electronic components must use Method 41; hazardous materials must use specialized preservation code "HM"; hoses must follow MIL-H-775; and mechanical parts must follow specific codes based on material composition (painted steel/aluminum using code 10-1-00-CA-NA-B-ED, unpainted steel using Method 33, and nonmetals using appropriate MIL-STD-2073-1 methods).

Packing consolidation requirements specify two levels: Level A requires placement into close-fitting wood cleated plywood boxes conforming to ASTM D6251 Type III Class 2 Style A with zinc-coated nails; Level B requires appropriately sized fiberboard boxes conforming to ASTM D5118 Style RSC Grade W5c, or triple wall fiberboard boxes conforming to ASTM D5168 if weight limitations are exceeded. All markings must follow MIL-STD-129, with inner packagings marked to identify contents and hazardous materials marked per regulatory requirements. All wood packaging materials used in CONUS and OCONUS shipments must comply with International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures ISPM-15.

2.1.1 Level A. Place all components into a close-fitting wood cleated plywood box conforming to ASTM D6251, type III, class 2, style A. Ensure that the technical literature is placed on top. Use fiberboard sleeves or pieces conforming to ASTM D4727 to separate the items, as required. Place heavier components in the bottom of the box. Cushion and brace as necessary to prevent excessive movement within box, using materials conforming to ASTM

D4727, PPP-C-795, or PPP-C-1797. Close the box with zinc coated nails in accordance with ASTM D6251.

2.1.2 Level B. Place all components into an appropriately sized fiberboard box conforming to ASTM D5118, Style RSC, Grade W5c. If the weight limitation of a fiberboard box is exceeded, use a triple wall fiberboard box conforming to ASTM D5168. Ensure that the technical literature is placed on top. Place heavier components in the bottom of the box. Cushion and brace as necessary to prevent excessive movement within box using materials conforming to ASTM D

4727, PPP-C-795, or PPP-C-1797. Close the box in accordance with ASTM D1974 or ASTM D5168, as appropriate. In some cases, the unit pack may be used as the shipping container for individual components. If the unit pack is also the shipping container, close and seal the box in accordance with ASTM D1974 sealing method B or C.

3. Marking. Marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129. Ensure all inner packagings are marked to identify their contents. Ensure all HAZMAT are marked and labeled in accordance with the appropriate regulatory documents.
