Question & Answers
Please find our answers below. Let me know if you have any questions.
1. Is the existing concrete subbase underneath the pip surface remaining or is the concrete subbase being replaced? The detail on page 12 of 12 references concrete subbase thickness to be discussed with a local Civil Engineer.
Answer: That subbase is staying with no replace.
2. First, the scope of work includes a description of “ Demo the existing playground surface. Adding pour-in-place surfacing as needed. Add a new surface of PIP to replace the damaged surface.” My question is will 100% of the existing surface be removed and replaced with a new surface or will the entire existing surface only be recapped? The other option that can be read into the description is will the existing surface only be repaired in the areas that have cracks or damage?
Answer: 100% of the existing surface will be removed and replaced with a new surface
3. We would like to know if you are open to considering alternative products. We have extensive experience installing both poured rubber and synthetic turf. One option that has proven to be very effective from both a cost standpoint and performance/aesthetic perspective is to cover an existing pour-in-place playground with a non-rubber infilled synthetic turf. The existing pour-in-place surface makes for an excellent subsurface as it provides the required fall height and impact protection while the new turf meets the needs of children and staff and comes with an 8 year warranty and 10 to 12 life expectancy. The total cost is less than a recap while the life expectancy is twice as long. We can provide samples and more information if you’re interested.
Answer: Proposal needs to be what is requested. If you want us to consider alternative products please include them with cost difference and product sheets and specs at Due date of Proposal.
Will not be part of the evaluation for award.
4. Color?
Answer: No preference for colors. It will be between red and black same as the exciting surface.
With Keeping the same pattern.
5. Can you confirm the total number of square feet?
Answer: Total square feet is on the drawing and provide an AutoCAD version with this amendment
