Heavy-Duty High-Capacity Grapple Solicitation Questions

1. Can you provide a picture of what grapple strike you would want?

A: Please see photos.

2. Can you provide what type of material that you will be handling with these grapples?

A: The grapple will be utilized for loading both light and heavy materials into roll-off bins and other various metal machinery, scrap, cable, and beams, as shown in the image below.

3. The specs state hook style coupler being used, which we take as the first one would be the Volvo adapters and the rest would be the standard ISO ribs. They also state that hose connections are at the boom……usually the attachment jump hoses connect to the bulkhead plate on the coupler. Can you clarify along with what fitting is required to connect to the Volvo loader?

A: ISO Quick Disconnect adapters as depicted in photos.

4. What fitting is required to connect to the Volvo loader?

A: Please see photos.

5. We would need to confirm all other connections are standard ISO.

6. Regarding this section 8.a, states: For the Contractor to successfully hand off the Heavy Duty – High-Capacity Grapple and receive payment from the United States Government (USG), they shall:

· Be present for delivery (if required). Will this be required? Yes.

· Unload the Grapple (if required). Will this be required? Yes.

Assemble the Grapple (if required). If shipped fully assembled will this be required? No.

· Conduct an inspection with USG personnel to verify that all items are present, and that the Grapple contains the minimum listed salient characteristics. Will I required to be present for this? Yes.

The reason for this question is this would add extra cost for travel to be at each site.

A: If the contractor is providing the familiarization training, yes.

7. Regarding section 8.b will I have to be present for inspection?

A: Yes, since familiarization training being conducted by contactor.

8. Regarding section 8.d will I have to mount the units to the equipment?

A: Provide familiarization training to receiving USG personnel to show how to safely mount the grapple.

9. The equipment lead time is well over 30 days, more in the range of 6 to 8 weeks, how would this be accommodated based on the verbiage in Section 1.c?

A: The Government will accommodate the manufacturer/contractor lead time. Please provide the soonest estimated delivery time upon submittal.

10. Can the manufacturer’s serial number be used of will a IUID number be provided?

A: The manufacture’s serial number may be used.

11. What size hose is needed?

A: Please see photo.

12. Will the hose size be the same for both machines?

A: Yes.

13. What is the psi?

A: Operating PSI 3100.

14. What style of fitting is on both ends?

15. Could you provide a sample picture or drawing of the grapple that you are looking for? Grapples can come in a wide variety of styles, and just want to make sure that you get what you want.

A: The system features two cylinders that provide the necessary force to break down and separate materials before they are loaded into the roll-of container.
