About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document (Amendment 0002) for solicitation SP330026Q0196, addressing clarifications on manufacturing specifications for Special Packaging Instructions (SPI) containers being procured by the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution for their Warner Robins, Georgia facility.

The document clarifies four key manufacturing and assembly requirements: (1) no special labeling or packaging requirements are mandated for the containers; (2) packing material is not required per the referenced drawing (8115 N 0000 1822); (3) parts 8 and 9 are to be fastened to part 1 using nails; and (4) nails are acceptable as an alternative to staples for attaching the plywood components (parts 3 and 4) to part 1, provided the nails do not penetrate through the bottom of part 1 and securely fasten the plywood. These clarifications establish the acceptable fastening methods and assembly standards for the sheet metal pallet construction specified in the solicitation.

Question and Answers:

1. Are there any labeling or special packaging requirements/preferences for the above referenced solicitation?

a. No.

2. Does this solicitation also require the "packing material" per the notes under "Information to Sheet Metal Pallet 8115 N 0000 1822" of the drawing provided in the solicitation?

a. No, packing of material is not required.

3. Under 8115N00001822, on Part 8 and Part 9, what would be used to fasten these pieces to part 1?

a. Nails would be used to attach parts 8 & 9 to part 1.

4. Would it be acceptable to use nails instead of staples for this build?

a. Yes, nails would be used to attach parts 8 & 9 to part 1. The plywood (parts 3 & 4) would be attached to part 1 and would usually be attached with staples. If nails are used, they must not extend through the bottom of part 1 and must attach the plywood securely.
