About this file
This is a Specification for Dockside Repairs for the USCGC HUDSON (WLIC 801) for Fiscal Year 2026, developed by the U.S. Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center.
Work Item 19 addresses the replacement of pilothouse windows and requires the contractor to replace 13 individual window units across multiple locations in the pilothouse structure. The replacement items include eight fixed windows (ranging from 10"x18"x30" to 24"x30"), two sliding windows (24"x30"), and one forward windshield assembly with wipers containing six panels and three window sections. All windows specified are heat-treated glass with 3/8" thickness, with references to similar Kearfott and Cornell-Carr product types. The contractor must accomplish electrical disconnection and reconnection of wiper assemblies in accordance with applicable SFLC Standard Specifications, prepare disturbed areas per SSPC-SP 3 standards with 3-inch feathered boundaries, conduct inspections in the presence of Coast Guard inspectors for corrosion and deterioration, install new windows, perform boundary integrity testing, execute touch-up preservation coating to match existing surfaces, conduct welding and brazing per specification, and perform operational testing of all window wiper assemblies post-repair. The contractor must submit Cost and Financial Reports (CFR) for inspection results, wiper assembly testing, boundary testing, and final operational testing. No Contractor Inspection Reports (CIR) or Technical Representatives are required for this work item. The specification references multiple Coast Guard drawings and publications governing preservation, electrical work, welding, cable installation, and general contracting requirements.
